Distributed fiber optic temperature sensor, high-voltage cable monitoring system, technology

What is a distributed fiber optic temperature sensor

Distributed fiber optic temperature sensor is a new sensor technology that emerged in the 1980s. The distributed fiber optic temperature sensor achieves full distribution measurement. In traditional point sensors, each detection point requires a probe, while in distributed fiber temperature sensors, only one fiber is needed to measure the temperature distribution on the entire fiber. When measuring temperature distribution over long distances and in large spaces, distributed sensing has the following advantages: low cost, can continuously measure multiple points on a line simultaneously, is a true distributed fiber optic sensor, only requires a collection and processing device to collect and process all data, simple installation and maintenance, high safety in harsh environments, anti EMI radiation, corrosion resistance, etc.

Distributed fiber optic temperature sensor cable monitoring system

Real time online detection of cables allows for real-time understanding and inspection of the current operation status of the monitored cables. Implementing pre alarm for hazardous areas of cables can eliminate faults in advance, avoid adverse consequences and significant losses. At the same time, the monitored cable trenches were also monitored, and abnormal temperatures caused by other reasons within the cable trenches were also detected and alarmed.
Fiber optic serves as a sensing medium, with only fiber optic connection between the host and the site, and the site is not electrified. In a distributed fiber optic fire warning system, the fiber optic itself is both a signal transmission medium and a temperature sensing medium, avoiding the need for a large number of temperature sensors for conventional distributed temperature measurement. Therefore, the distributed fiber optic fire warning system can achieve low cost, easy installation, high electrical insulation, high voltage resistance, and safe use. Not subject to electromagnetic interference and no danger of electric sparks.
Classifying and analyzing the detected data can identify regular issues and provide a basis for operational management. The collected data and curves can be displayed in real-time and form a database, which is conducive to querying, comparing, and analyzing historical data.

Distributed Fiber Optic High Voltage Cable Temperature Monitoring Method

By using a multi-channel device, optical fibers are laid separately on high-voltage cables to monitor the temperature changes of each cable in real-time. The main equipment consists of a temperature measurement host located in the relay protection room of the factory building, an optical cable terminal box located in the relay protection room of the factory building, and a detection optical cable installed on the surface of the high-voltage cable.
The host is placed in the relay room of the factory near the cable tunnel, and the detection optical fiber is led out from the relay room of the factory and laid in a straight line along the cable surface in the cable duct. When a hot spot is found on the cable, the system can issue an alarm through the alarm platform, transmit it through the network, or send an alarm signal through a relay. Users can extract or view temperature data in the remote user control center and accurately locate the location of hotspots to respond promptly to alarms.
