What is a distributed fiber optic temperature sensing system
It is an instrument that uses one (or more) ordinary optical fibers and a terminal device to measure temperatures at up to several thousand points within a range of several kilometers.
Principle of Distributed Fiber Optic Temperature Sensing System
It is based on the Raman scattering phenomenon of optical fibers. The light pulses emitted by the laser light source interact with fiber molecules, causing scattering. There are various types of scattered light, such as Rayleigh scattering, Brillouin scattering, and Raman scattering. Raman scattering is associated with the thermal vibrations of fiber molecules, making it sensitive to temperature and suitable for temperature measurement.
In optical fibers, the scattered signal is continuous. By using high-speed signal acquisition technology to measure the time interval between incident light and Raman scattering light, the location where Raman scattering light occurs can be obtained. Due to the sensitivity of Raman scattering light to temperature, the corresponding temperature distribution can be measured along the optical fiber.
